It’s Breast Cancer Awareness month—also known as Pinktober—which means we are kicking it up a notch and covering everything in pink. As a charter member of Cleaning For A Reason, we give away free house cleanings to women battling cancer… not just in October, but year-round.

It all started with a phone call to our Buckets & Bows Maid Service owner, Debbie Sardone. Debbie took a call from a woman who wanted a quote for cleaning her home but, after hearing the price, the caller said she couldn’t afford it because she wasn’t working while undergoing treatment for cancer.

After the call ended, Debbie realized she had missed an opportunity to help out, so she began offering free cleanings for women fighting cancer. For several years it was a solitary effort of Buckets & Bows Maid Service offering these free cleanings in southern Denton County, until Debbie established the non-profit Cleaning For A Reason in 2006. Since then, over 1,200 maid services throughout the U.S. and Canada have joined us in donating over 35,000 free house cleanings for women who are undergoing  cancer treatment in their local community—free cleanings valued at over $11,000,000. Cleaning For A Reason is now a nationally-recognized not-for-profit, acknowledged by Oprah, the New York Yankees, and numerous national and local media. Buckets & Bows Maid Service is proud to have won Cleaning For A Reason’s Top Cleaning Partner award for providing the most free cleanings in 2016 and routinely makes the list of the Top 10 Cleaning For A Reason partners.

During this exciting month, you’ll spot every Buckets & Bows Maid Service cleaning technician sporting a pink speed cleaning apron when they are making your home sparkle and shine. If you want your own pink apron, you can purchase it here. And you can learn more about Cleaning For A Reason or make a donation here. Happy Pinktober!
