A little history of Little Elm, TX.
The young town of Little Elm, Texas was first chartered in 1841 by the Republic of Texas. Its first inhabitants were the Native Americans who lived along the many creeks. Those creeks provided the water supply and also brought in the various wildlife to the area. New settlers who were attracted to the abundant source of timber in the area that provided fuel for the winters, and the incredibly fertile soil, and the town later incorporated in 1966. In the 1990s The desire for the little lake community turned this quiet town into an attractive spot for new settlers wanting to live in a beautiful Lakeside setting. Interestingly enough, the original downtown area of Little Elm was actually located under Lewisville Lake when the Dam was relocated, raising the water levels of the earlier body of water previously known as the Garza/Little Elm Reservoir.
