We could not be prouder of our Buckets & Bows Maid Service founder and president, Debbie Sardone and our amazing colleagues at Cleaning For A Reason. This week, the non-profit Debbie started in 2006 made a BIG announcement: Cleaning For A Reason is merging with ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, providing the opportunity to serve even more women battling cancer. Cleaning For A Reason was founded when Debbie received a call from a woman battling cancer who needed her house cleaned but could not afford it. Debbie made a commitment that she would never turn away a woman battling cancer because she couldn’t pay, and Cleaning For A Reason became the non-profit resource for giving a free clean home to women cancer patients. In the ensuing years, Cleaning For A Reason has cleaned the homes of more than 25,000 women in the US and in Canada, thanks to a network of partner maid services and cleaning companies who volunteer their time. ISSA, founded in 1923 as a cause-driven trade association, is the cleaning industry’s preeminent, global cleaning industry association. The merger opens up new outreach and funding avenues for serving an estimated two-to-three times the number of women battling cancer and it takes Cleaning For A Reason global!
